Castlelyons GAA Notes WE 21.5.18. 2018-05-22 22:12:00

Junior Footballers defeat Carrigtwohill.

Castlelyons 3-11 Carrigtwohill 2-7

Castlelyons had a good win over Carrigtwohill in the East Cork Junior Football League last Saturday evening. The game was played in Carrick and the referee was Ger Scully. The first half was tough, and, on the whistle, it was 1-4 to 0-7. However, Castlelyons showed a high level of fitness as they pulled away for a good win with goals through Jack Barry (2-0) and Alan Fenton (1-0).

We are out against Aghada in second round of the East Cork JFC on this Saturday evening at 4.30pm. Training is going well and now a win in the league we should be in good form. We have several injuries and both Colm Spillane and Niall O Leary are involved with the county but if we to play to form in this do or die game we have a could create a surprise. Best of luck lads.

Cork advance in both Minor and Senior Hurling Championships.

Cork lived up to the favourites tag and took both the minor and senior first round championship games against Clare last Sunday in the Park. They have taken up where they left off last year and now wear the favourites tag for Munster again this year hoping to go all the way. Congrats especially to Colm Spillane who had an excellent game and drove Cork forward when the need was greatest. Congrats also to Paddy O Flynn from neighbouring Bride Rovers, who played at full forward in the minor game and put in a great hour.

Races in the Centre on Sunday evening 3rd June.

Castlelyons Community Centre are making final arrangements for the Race Night in the Centre on the Sunday evening of the June Bank Holiday weekend. As befits all such Centres there is a requirement for funding on an ongoing and sustained basis to ensure the upkeep of the place. Accordingly, the Community Centre Committee would really appreciate your support for the Race night which can be done through sponsoring a Race, an Add on the Race Card or buying a horse. We will have more information next week but no doubt you are preparing to help and keep our Centre going. Thanks again.
