St Colman’s go so close in Dean Ryan Cup Final.

St Colman’s are back again for another day in their bid to hit the bigtime again in Munster Colleges hurling as they drew with a much-favoured Thurles CBS team after extra time. Well done to all and especially our own three club lads Dave Morrison, James Kearney and Jack Kenny who also saw game time. Indeed, it was very much a local team with eight Bride Rovers lads seeing game time and I think nine on the Panel which is a huge amount from one club in a top competition. Well done to all

New Gymnasium.

There were great efforts made last year to set up a Gymnasium for all our players. Among the issues to be worked on were where to put the Gym, what to put in it and how to pay for it. There was some difficulty encountered and unfortunately little happened over the last twelve months although the lads visited Rathcormac and Fermoy Gyms. However, players took on the initiative of raising some finance and we now have, at least a temporary location for the vital months and are au fait with the furniture and regulations from a Club perspective. The importance of strength and conditioning in the modern game, indeed, any sport, cannot be underestimated. A good tailored program focuses the body and muscles differences directly to the sport. A good program will give balance to muscle difference, toughen up tendons and ligaments, tackle flexibility and reduce injuries. It is most encouraging that we have now some qualified personnel in this field of study and they have agreed to share it with club members and assist in setting up supervised programs for the Coach. Well done to those working on this outstanding initiative and more details on membership through the Club late.

Votes of Sympathy.

Castlelyons GAA wish to express sincere condolences to Ms Liz Dolan and the Dolan family, Fermoy and Douglas on the unexpected death of Mick Dolan. Mick was a man of great values and integrity as he gave so much to his club Fermoy, and Cork County Board. Mick was an outstanding character and one always felt enthused by his company as he had so many stories of GAA and life in general. Ní beidh a leithéid ann arís agus ar dheis Dé go raibh a ainm dílis.
