Castlelyons Juvenile GAA Club Notes: 03.03.2016

U10 – Training/Blitz Update;

This weekend, Saturday 5th March, our U10s are playing in the Owen Geary Indoor Hurling tournament that is being hosted by Ballyduff Upper GAA. Kick-off is from 10:00 am so we would ask all parents to be there by 9:40. Estimated finish time is 1 pm.

As our U10s are away and a number of coaches are also involved in the foundation coaching course this weekend, there will be no U9 training this Saturday 05th March. There is however an indoor hurling  training session in the community centre on Tuesday night 01st March at 7 pm for both U9 & U10s.

Our Rebel Og Blitz schedule will kick off on Saturday March 19th with an U9 & U10 Football blitz, the venue is tbc.

U11/U12 – Match report.

On Saturday February 27th we had our first hurling game of the year against Bride Rovers on their Astroturf pitch.

It was a great run out for the lads, and also shows that we’ve loads of work to do before our leagues.

Our team was made up of: Josh O Leary, William Verling, Aaron Fenton, Gearoid O Sullivan, Luke O Mahony, Marc Callinan, Mark Cullinane, Cees Kouwenberg, Matthew Rosner, Peter Milward, Daniel Ryan and Brian Spillane.

Also thank you to the parents that supported us on the day.

 U14 – Update;

At this week’s training, the boys nominated their captains for the season. For U13 James Cullinane has been named as Captain with Evan Lenehan as Vice Captain. U14’s will be captained by Gavin O Neill and Vice Captain is Declan Geary. We’re sure these lads will be great leaders for the teams and we look forward to a great year.

U16 Update;

Our U16's footballers make their season debut on Sunday next in a league opener v Brian Dillons at the tank field Mayfield. The team has trained very diligently under Mark O'Flynn for the last couple of weeks and Mark has high hopes for a win in a game with a 12.30 throw in. All support would be greatly appreciated on the day. We have our first home game the following Sunday v Shamrocks on the main pitch at 2pm.
