U9/U10 – Update

Our U9 footballers had their first outing of the year at the Rebel Og Blitz in Carrigtwohill last Saturday. In the first game we met a strong Nemo Rangers side and despite not having played much football this year the boys held their own for most of the game but Nemo finished stronger. However the boys learned a lot from the first game and put in great performances to see off Carrigtwohill and Erin Own. Well done lads.

U9 Panel on the day was Richard Barry, Jack Reals, Dylan Leech, Cathal Sheehan, Rory Condon, Shane Hussey, Sean O'Callaghan and Torin O'Brien.

On the same morning our U10s took to the field in a Rebel Og Blitz in Aghada. With some of the U10 panel having to bow out on the morning, thanks to some of our U9s, especially Oisin Cronin and Sean Og Maguire for making a quick dash from Carrigtwohill to Aghada and stepped up an age with ease. The U10s also played 3 games, getting the better of Carrigtwohill and Erins Own but losing out to Aghada in their final game. Great performance from all the lads.

The U10 panel on the day ; Oisin Cronin, Sean Og Maguire, Kevin Barry, Tom O'Neil, Keelan Buckley, Arron Goggin, David Hegarty, Patrick Dooley, Cathal O'Riordan and Eoin McMurtry.

We will be back Hurling Training on the pitch this Saturday @ 10am.

U11/U12 – Training Update;

U11/U12 training now taking place on Monday evening from 7.00-8.00 in Leahy’s Field.  Training is also on Saturday mornings, time to be confirmed by text, again in Leahy’s Field.

U14 –Update;

Our U14 footballers started their season on Saturday last, in an away match to Carrig Na Bhfear. Despite missing some of our team who were unavailable on the day, the team played very well. This was our first match this season and we have a very young team. However, this didn’t stop them and throughout the entire match, they showed their commitment and dedication. As the season progresses we have no doubt this team will aspire to greater things. A big thank you to all the parents and supporters that travelled on Saturday, onwards and upwards.

Our next match is this Saturday against Aghabullogue, with a kick off of 5.15 on the main pitch in Castlelyons. Please support if you can.

The U14 panel on the day; Michael Griffin, William Moran, Stephen Casey, Peter Greaney, Michael O Sullivan, Gearoid O Sullivan, Leon Shanahan. Ian Ryan, Ian O Sullivan, Darragh Spillane, Oscar Hallihan, Evan Lenehan, Gavin O Neill, Colm Mc Carthy, Alex Murphy, Scott O Brien, Jodie Whelan and Cees Koewenburg.

U16 Update;

Our U16 footballers made their home debut on Sunday week last in a league game against Shamrocks. We started the game brightly and had registered a goal and a point to two points for Shamrocks after ten minutes, however a physically strong opposition were making inroads and responded with three white flags.

Our lads stuck to the task and Shane Flynn, who started the match in defence but now operating at midfield, struck a great goal before half time to leave us winning by two points at the short whistle.  Shamrocks were gaining more possession on the resumption and scored four points without reply, but a goal and a point from David Morrison had us on level terms entering the final ten minutes. Shamrocks responded with a goal and a point and were looking good until Castlelyons were awarded a penalty, which David calmly put away. With the game in the balance, Richard Morrison struck the crossbar and with that, our chances of a second win in a row ended.  Shamrocks finished strongly and added two goals and ran out winners by six points.

A special mention must go to Conor Mc Carthy who sustained a shoulder injury before half time but continued to play on despite his injury. He will not be available for our next game against Kilta Og on Easter Monday.
