Membership Information.

Only paid up members for 2019 are eligible and insured to use club facilities. Presently Adult membership is fixed at €75.00 and student at €50.00. So, please make a note and pay your membership fees immediately to Donal Barry Treasurer.

Castlelyons GAA in addition to the pitch and dressing rooms has a Registered Club Bar, a Gym and a Community Centre all an increased levy and huge contribution in funding each year to the GAA Public Liability and Property Scheme. This is in addition to the Players Injury Fund. Accordingly, it is imperative that all involved with the Club pay membership as it may be some help to cover these huge costs.

Club Lotto Jackpot now €15,200.

Our weekly club lotto draw was held in the Clubhouse Bar on Monday 14^th January and the numbers drawn were 12, 13, 27 and 31. There was no winner. There were eight Lucky Dip winners were as follows: - Chrissie Mackessy, Liz O Brien, Marie Barry, Kaye & Shane, Ann Barry, Cathal O Doherty, Michael Roche and the Spillane family.

Next week’s draw will be held on Monday 21sr January at 9.30 pm in the Abbey Tavern. The Jackpot is now €15,200. We would ask all patrons and especially those in the Adult, Juvenile and Camogie Clubs to support our Club Lotto. The results of the Club Lotto are published each week on both the Avondhu and social media.

East Cork Board Draw – the ideal way to support your Club.

Cumann Lúthchleas Gael Uí Mac Coille are holding a fundraising Draw and it provides an ideal way to support your own Club also. The prizes are (1^st) Two Premium Tickets for all GAA matches played in Páirc Uí Chaoimh in 2019. Entry into a Premium Lottery for All Ireland tickets if Cork are involved. Free entry to all Cork County Championship matches anywhere in the County. (2^nd) €200 and (3^rd) €100. Tickets on sale and available now as draw will take place on Wednesday 30^th January 2019. Tickets are €10 each (€6 to your Club and €4 to East Cork Board). Michael Barrett, Secretary, John Barrett, Anthony Spillane, Colm Barry and Declan Spillane of the Juvenile Committee have tickets as it is a great opportunity to make some finance for the club which is important currently. Imokilly Victory Social on this Friday 18^th January at 8pm

Well folks Imokilly are holding their victory social and on this Friday 18^th January at 8pm in the fantastic venue that is the Garryvoe Hotel. You can dance away the night to the beautiful melody of Art Supple with his Friends and a Disco later to give a few blasts from the past and the Galway Girl.

This promises to be a spectacular and memorable night and a fitting recognition of the team and Imokilly in achieving the 2-in Row and maybe with a bit of luck make it 3-in-Row in 2019 but that is certainly another day’s work. However, sure any day you win a little All-Ireland as the patrons with Corkness say ‘tis great boy but 2-in Row is still better, and it even rattled some big clubs so much so that they have tried to stop it off the field of play.

Castlelyons have contributed big time to these victories. Colm Barry, Niall O Leary, Tom Carroll and Aidan O Sullivan have picked up two county senior medals and Colm Spillane has joined them in 2018. All very committed men and have played their part in an outstanding set up led by a manager in Fergal Condon who may not be a big writer in the art or have received much recognition but has delivered the goods. I have no doubt that we will have a good Castlelyons support for the lads on what should be a great night.

 St Colman’s bow out of Harty Cup.

St Colman’s College suffered a somewhat surprise 0-14 to 1-14 defeat to De La Salle College in the Harty Cup Quarter final in Dungarvan last Wednesday. De La Salle set the pace in the first half and were five points to no score before Castlelyons man got Colman’s on the board with a fine point. They had a massive player in centre back Cian Wadding who cleared and drove in great ball to his forwards. Despite a good second half from St Colman’s they failed to overturn a strong De La Salle side who now meet Midleton CBS in the semi-final.

In addition to James Kearney we had David Morrison and Leon Doocey on the St Colman’s side and Peter Roche came on as a sub in the 57^th minute. Overall, this was a strong side but colleges hurling is tough going and no doubt they will learn from the experience and many are underage again next year.
