U6/U8

Training continues twice a week: Wednesday’s 7-8pm and Saturday’s 10-11am. The next blitz (hurling) for this age group takes place on Saturday, May the 23rd, and is currently scheduled for Fermoy. Parents/guardians will be notified by text.

U10

Training continues twice weekly for these boys. The next blitz is possibly a hurling blitz this Saturday morning in Carrigtowhill. We will also be taking part in the annual U10 Ballyduff Upper Outdoor Hurling Blitz on the weekend of May the 22nd.

U11/U12

Training continues weekly for this group. We played St Colman’s last night, Wednesday the 13th May, in the 3rd round of the B Grade U12 Hurling League and a full report will follow next week. Our U12 footballers are out tomorrow night, Friday the 15th May, away to Lisgoold in the 3rd round of their league.

U13/U14

This group of players have had a few matches in the last week. On the 4th May our U14’s played a hurling challenge match against Glanworth in what turned out to be a competitive match in the end. On Thursday the 7th May we travelled to Youghal where we took on a very strong Youghal team in the 3rd round of the U14 B Grade Hurling League. Youghal proved too strong on the day with the vast majority of their panel on the age and the final score was 9-9 to 2-2. Credit to Castlelyons on the night for not letting the heads drop and giving it their all for the full of the match. This is a very young panel with only 6 boys on the age so the future is looking bright. Next match is being played tonight in Castlelyons @ 7:15pm: U14 Football v Passage @ 7:15pm (May 14th). Panel for the Youghal match: Colm McCarthy, Michael O'Sullivan, Peter Hegarty, Declan Geary, Stephen Casey, Jack Kenny, Kevin McCarthy, Shane Cotter, Evan Lenehan, Richard Morrison, James Kearney, Dara Spillane, Leon Doocey, Eoghan Dolan, Gavin O'Neill & Scott O'Brien.

On Monday the 11th May our U13 hurlers travelled to Whitescross for their 4th round league match. On a blustery night all the lads hurled well and came away easy winners against an under strength Whitescross team. This win will give a boost to these lads who now have one league game against Nemo Rangers to play. Final score on the night was: Castlelyons 7-8 v Whitescross 1-0. Panel: Colm McCarthy (0-2), James Cullnane, Michael O’Sullivan, Dara Spillane, Leon Doocey, Declan Morrison (0-1), Oscar Hallihan, Stephen Casey (2-0), Eoghan Dolan, Gavin O’Neill (0-3), Evan Lenehan (2-1), Scott O’Brien (3-0), Ian O’Sullivan (0-1), Declan Geary.
