The course is aimed at beginner coaches, parents of children that are starting to play hurling and also to anyone that has an interest in learning best practices to coaching young children.

 Course Philosophy; The GAA is committed to implementing an integrated Coach Education Programme with a view to maximising participation, optimising playing standards and ensuring that players needs are catered for in a balanced way. The course is designed to promote the development of the “How to Coach” skills through modelling of best practice, as demonstrated by the tutor, experimental learning and through the guided reflection on previous experiences – as a coach, player, official or parent – facilitated by the tutor.

 February Flashback;

This week, we take a quick look back to last June, when our U6’s played one of their first matches against St Catherine’s. The boys had a great day, the weather couldn’t have been better and they played their hearts out. As this match is part of the Go Games initative, no scores are taken or kept. The main aim is to improve the children’s hurling and skills. The U6’s are currently training in the Astroturf on Saturday mornings from 9.30-10.00 and we look forward to an eventful year with them.

 Lotto;

Our next Lotto Draw will take place on Monday February 15th, in the Community Centre. The jackpot prize for this draw will be a fantastic €6,400.  You can purchase your ticket at any of the training sessions over the coming week or from the many local businesses and promoters. Thank you to everyone who supports our weekly lotto.

Training;

Astroturf Training incurs a fee of €2 per child, to cover the cost of the pitch rental. Please note that all training (and cancellation of training) is sent through text by managers during the week prior to training. Please make sure that you have filled out the 2016 registration so that we have all the updated contact information.
