U10’s – 2015.

This week we take a look back to our U10’s of 2015 who travelled to the hurling stronghold of Moycarkey Borris GAA club in Tipperary to take part in the U10 Paddy Cooney Hurling Tournament. On the day, 14 of the boys travelled with their parents and supporters. The first game saw Castlelyons take on Na Piarsigh of Limerick, who we eventually lost to, in what was a very close game. The second and third matches was against two strong teams, Kilmorac Killoughney and Rathdowney Errills and unfortunately we were not strong enough on the day for them. Our final match pitched us against a Tipp team, Ballingarry and we lost, what was a very tight game. Overall, the result did not reflect the performances put in by the boys and although the score wasn’t on our side, all the boys enjoyed the day, the difference scenery and the fantastic spread put on afterwards by Moycarkey Borris GAA Club. The boys were presented with engraved medals before we left and were delighted to have taken part, in what a most enjoyable day. The team on the day was Eoin Mc Murtry, Cathal O Riordan, David Hegarty, Kevin Barry, Olan Lenehan, Matthew Rosner, Aaron Goggin, Patrick Dooley, Colm White, Jack Cremin, Oisin Morrison, Mark Cullnane, Josh O Leary and Brian Spillane and their coach, Steve O Riordan.

 Rebel Og U13 – 2016.

On Friday, February 19th (mid-term), GDAs will hold registration days / coaching sessions throughout the county for U13 boys for 2016 (born in 2003). Sessions will incorporate football & hurling and will mark the beginning of a regional coaching programme which will eventually lead to the formation of regional panels later in the year and ultimately county U14 panels in 2017. All boys on the age are welcome and are encouraged to play both codes on the day, players may choose one code if they wish. All boys who attend will be welcomed back for further camps / sessions subsequently. These are not trials.

We have 7no boys attending this Rebel Og coaching session and wish them all the best of luck – a great incentive to enourage the development of our younger players.

 U16 Training;

Our U16's have completed a six training programme at Fermoy Swimming pool under the guidance of Louise Cotter.  During these sessions the boys worked mainly on strengthening leg muscles which will be of be a benefit in reducing leg injuries in the season ahead.  We would like to thank Louise for her time and dedication.
