Fiftieth Anniversary of Páirc an tAthair Peadar 1971 – 2021.Football, hurling, camogie and other sports were played in the parish from times long gone. This year marks the 50th anniversary of our present playing field Páirc an tAthair Peadar Ó Laoghaire as it was officially opened in 1971. Sonny O’Brien a shining light with the Juvenile Club back the years.The Castlelyons Juvenile Club was founded in 1976 and has since catered for hurling and football teams from nursery to minors. We always appreciate that the legendary Dave Hegarty was the driving force and secretary of the Club for so many years. Castlelyons Juvenile GAA AGM – A virtual review with confidence for the future.Castlelyons Juvenile Club held their AGM this week in a virtual manner through the medium of ZOOM. The numbers participating were small but all the officers, team managers, selectors took in an enthusiastic and excellent meeting. Castlelyons GAA Notes WE 18.1.21.
Meetings and a look forward with the County Board and East Cork Board.The County Board provided us with a summary of fixtures at the first meeting of the year on 12.1.21. The National calendar had been sent out to the clubs. This entailed a dedicated 12 week only for clubs, and the Rúnaí acknowledged that 12 weeks is very tight in Cork especially for dual clubs.
