East Cork Scór Uí Mac Coille

The promotion of Scór at adult and juvenile levels has helped to play an important role on the revival of our culture and heritage. It is imperative that we continue to promote Scór as it really adds to the overall value to the Club unit. Thanks to Orla Hallihan and James Morrisson who are assisting in this regard.  If you are interested or have any queries please contact Kieran McGann.

The Scór na nÓg Finals will be held at Lisgoold Hall on Sunday night the 8th November at 6 pm.

Cork GAA Clubs Draw.

At our monthly meeting on Monday night our treasurer Donal O Leary thanked all who joined this Draw and those who sold tickets.  Well done to all.

Well done to Dungourney and Fermoy.

Dungourney  are a club who have an outstanding hurling tradition having won three county Senior titles in the early 1900’s and a Junior title in 1915 are back in business again and had an outstanding win in the replay versus Cloghdubh last Friday evening.  We offer them our sincere congratulations and wish them well in the Munster championship.

Fermoy another club with a great tradition in football but craving success for many a year now with the last adult county back in 1974 are also back in business with a mighty display against Mayfield in Páirc Uí Rinn in the Intermediate football final last Saturday.  This is a great tribute to basically the same panel of players who won the Intermediate hurling championship last year.  Congrats and well done lads.

Mr Trevor Grumbridge, Principal of Kilmagnier National School was a member of the panel and came on in the Final.  Padraig De Roiste, who had an outstanding game and won the man of the match award, is a son of Mr Nelius De Roiste, Principal of Castlelyons National School.  Congratulations to both Trevor and Padraig and it keeps up the strong Castlelyons connection with Fermoy county successes even back to the early 1900’s.

Congratulations

Congratulations to Colm Spillane who has been named on the Cork senior hurling panel for the coming year by new Cork manager Kieran Kingston. Good to see Colm back on the panel and playing well after a lot of injuries last year.  Hopes he now takes a serious look at both Colm Barry who had four excellent games with Uí Mac Coille in the Championship and is a star with Mary I, Limerick and, also, Anthony Spillane one of our forwards of great promise.

Players Meeting

Our Intermediate panel held a review of the year last week.  This was a very constructive meeting and no doubt it will help for the coming season and assist the forthcoming AGM.
