Castlelyons GAA Notes weekended 1.12.25.
Castlelyons play Cobh in East Cork Under 21 C Grade Hurling Final.
On Friday evening the 5th of December our under 21 hurlers play Cobh in the East Cork C Grade Final in Park South Midleton at 7.30pm. Castlelyons who have a very young team this year had a good win in the semi-final over Bride Rovers second team in Glenville. However, this is Cobh’s first team, and their star man is Timmy Wilkes currently on the Cork senior panel. While they are favourites, our lads are in good form and are looking forward to the game. We would appreciate your support. Castlelyons Abú.
Dr O’Callaghan Cup – Cork Colleges Senior A Hurling Championship.
Christian Brothers College 1-25 St Colman’s College Fermoy 2-20
Christian Brothers College defeated St Colmans in the semi-final of the O’Callaghan Cup by two points. This victory that was wrapped in some confusion. The game was played in the Astro Pitch at Páirc Uí Chaoimh and the gate to the pitch remained locked until less than ten minutes before throw-in, forcing a delayed start. The scoreboard not in use for the game. Reporters counted the score as 1-24 to 2-21, which would have been a draw – the same score that St Colman’s had. But referee Cathal McAllister had it as 1-25 to 2-20, which stood as the final score. Adam Lardner, Castlelyons played from the start and done very well scoring 1-1. We had Ciarán Murphy, Sam McCarthy and Thomas McAuliffe on the panel, but they did not get game time.

Castlelyons Community Council are presenting a Christmas Variety Show in the Community Centre on Saturday 6th December at 8pm. There will be drama, music, singing, a choral performance and comedy sketches. We believe the MC is John Arnold a renowned storyteller from Bartlemy who can tell them or write them even in song and can really get the crowd going. O John take it easy on your favourite one. The Choral performance will comprise of two choirs, The Castlelyons Gospel Choir and the Fermoy Men’s Club Choir with both singing their own beautiful pieces and then joining in harmony with a medley of carols and festive favourites. Of course, there are many more performers and more details on social media this week and a great evening assured. Admission is €15 and €10 for children.
