Great day at the PUC Fada.
We had a very successful PUC FADA on St Stephen’s Day. Well done to our juvenile committee who arranged the annual event with the teams, handicaps, stewards, fun, refreshments and prizes for the various categories. There were new prize categories including camogie for the first time and a lovely dry morning guaranteed a huge field.
Congratulations to all our winners as follows: - Hurling - Oscar, Dara and Brian. Camogie - Robyn, Eavan and Ella. Juvenile Hurling - Dara, Callaghan, Diarmuid and Bobby. Juvenile Camogie - Bronagh, Fia and Anna. Mixed - The McGann family. A special Big to William O'Sullivan, Builder and Fitzgerald Butchers for sponsoring spot prizes on the day. Go raibh míle maith agaibh go léir.

Castlelyons Camogie Quiz keep the brains active between the Christmas’s.
The Junior Camogie Club are most grateful to all who came out to support our Junior Camogie fundraising table quiz on Sunday 28th December in the Community Centre. It was a fantastic night with a massive turnout of teams. MC and Quizmaster James Kenny was outstanding on the night as he settled the crowd with an array of questions and blew away any Christmas cobwebs. Thanks to all the organisers in the background including Elaine Murphy, Shane Moroney, Chris Cotter, Orla Hallihan, Niam O’Donovan, Stephen Griffey and Aoife Beausang. The winners on the night were the Rosner family who were winners on a tiebreaker over the Sheehan family who claimed second place.
The Club are very thankful to many generous sponsors who supplied some lovely prizes for a well-supported raffle. The Heron Café, Riordans SuperValu Fermoy, The Retro Rascals, McDonnells Bros, Daniel Lane, Cork GAA, Hickeys Menswear, Fermoy, Carry out Mitchelstown, Cian on Art, AdPunch.co, The Pedlars Rock, Mr Softee Ice Cream, Winners Enclosure, The Latch Tallow, Iron Mountain. Votes of sympathy.
Michael Barrett, a beloved stalwart of our Club, passed away just before Christmas after a relatively short illness. He held many officerships down the years and always willing to lend a helping hand. He also was an outstanding community man who gave immense service as he was chairperson of the Community Centre and helped in many charitable organisations in the Fermoy area. His great work was always done with a quiet humility as he strove to make Castlelyons and, indeed the surrounding areas a better place to live in. He was liked and respected and will be sadly missed by everyone who was lucky enough to have known him. The turnout at his funeral bore testimony to his great work with huge numbers paying a very touching tribute to him. We wish to express sincere condolences to his wife Neasa, children Aisling, Stephen and Olan, grandson Cillian, daughter-in-law Julie, his mother Catherine, brother John, sisters Karen and Sheila, and their families. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam dílis.
We also wish to offer our sincere condolences to the Milward family, Castlelyons and Fermoy on the sad passing of James and to Don O’Mahony, Castlelyons on the sad passing of his mother Carmel, Cobh. Go ndéana Dia trócaire ar a hanam.
