This game was played in Castlelyons on a dry but bitterly cold evening.  Despite all the bad weather the pitch was in good order and Mike Carey, Bride Rovers was on the whistle.   Glenville were first on the scoresheet with a good point from play.  Good work from Dylan Leetch led to Jack Cremin scoring 0-1 and Ronan Ryan drove on to release Jack for another point.  Then Cathal Sheehan put us 0-3 to 0-1 up.  But we lost our set up a bit and Glenville made it 0-3 apiece on 15 minutes.  Kevin Barry made a mighty save for us in goal but from the resultant 45 they scrambled in a goal and were on top for a while.  We got back again but our shooting could be better, and it was 1-3 to 0-3 for Glenville at half time.

Glenville made a great start to the second half scoring 1-1 and Kevin Barry was again to the rescue saving a one on one.   Our backs settled with Dylan Leetch and Brian Spillane getting on top around the middle.  Ronan Ryan had 0-2 and Adam Lardner scored 0-1 each side of a Glenville scores.  It was 2-7 to 1-6 with 15 minutes to go.  Then Brian Spillane broke through and fed Lardner who rocketed to the net and then put over two frees putting us up a point.  We defended well again and another good pass from Liam Riordan set up Adam Lardner for another goal and then the ball was moved up for us and Adam put over the resultant free.  Ronan Ryan and Jack Cremin closed out the game with two points for us. This was a good by the lads and the management.

Cork hurlers back from the West and its now two league wins from two.

So far, so good for the Cork senor hurling team with two wins from in the League.  This is to the delight of new manager Ben O’Connor and his management team as they defeated Galway away in a closely fought encounter.  Great to see three local lads in the full back line as Niall O’Leary Castlelyons, O’Leary Watergrasshill, Eoin Roche Bride Rovers and his brother Brian Roche at corner forward all doing very well. Galway showed up with a very young team and pushed the Rebels all the way.  It was the established Cork lads of Séamus Harnedy, Shane Barrett and Darragh Fitzgibbon in the half forward line with 0-13 between them that really set the tone and Brian Hayes coming on to score two goals.  Galway were wayward in their shooting especially Cathal Mannion and three of their team went off injured.  Galway did show a lot of promise in the game but great win for the Rebels.

Next Sunday All-Ireland Champions Tipperary come to Supervalu Páirc Uí Chaoimh and once again Ben O’Connor has emphasised the importance of Cork’s buoyant support, which delivered sell-out crowds for the county’s last eight matches of last year, including the league final and all seven championship fixtures.  He did outline the Cork supporters does make a difference.  Tipperary will also arrive with two wins from two games.  Both stands have already been sold out, which represents 21,000 spectators. The two terraces hold 12,000 each and it looks like the two may be open.  It is interesting to note that there were full houses at the Rebels last eight matches of last year, including the league final and all seven championship fixtures.

Meanwhile the Cork footballers return from the East unbeaten after two games as they defeated Louth 1-17 to 1-12. The Leinster champions relied a bit too much on the great Sam Mulroy whereas Cork had a good selection of scorers with Stephen Sherlock scoring 0-8.  Their next game is away to Offaly on Sunday 18th February and a win here would put the footballers in with a great chance of promotion to Division 1.
