U16 Rebel Óg Eastern A Grade Hurling League

Castlelyons 3-11 St Catherines 0-15

Last Monday night our U16 Hurlers played St. Catherines in the 2nd round of the U16 A Grade Hurling League

It was ideal hurling weather, with at good pitch and a fine evening as both teams served up a hard fought and very exciting game of hurling with our lads deservedly coming out on top.

Both teams began in whirlwind fashion and but scores were hard to come by as both defences were on top. St Catherines scored 1 goal and 1 point in this half and also had a few near misses and a few narrow wides. Castlelyons scored 1 goal and 9 points in the first half. The goal came from David Morrison with the points coming from Barry Murphy (3) Seamus Moroney (2) Mark Spillane (2) Shane O Flynn and Michael Buckley.

There were a number of positional made by both teams for the second half.  Again it was most exciting in a tough but fair encounter. Exchanges were about even with St Catherines scoring 2 goals and 4 points and Castlelyons scoring 3 goals and 1 point. The Castlelyons goals came from David Morrison, Barry Murphy and Pearse Varner with Barry also adding on the point. So after a good game and typical local derby our lads emerged victorious and well done again.
