Under 16 Hurlers play Killeagh on 5.7.15

U6/U8 – The last few weeks the boys have been concentrating on their hurling skills and the results were evident from the great performances put in at the Rebel Og Hurling blitz held in Ballinacurra last Saturday. We had three teams in action, one at U7 and two at U8. Our U7’s played two games versus Killeagh and Youghal and played with great determination, skill and fun. The U7 panel on the day was John O'Neill, Conor Riley, Ciaran Murphy, Ryan Stack, Eoin Corrigan, Brian Corrigan, Shane Hallihan, Gearoid McCarthy, Jude Hallihan.

Our two U8 teams also put in great performances matching and outplaying teams from Killeagh and Lisgoold, with some of our boys showing great improvement since the start of the year. Our U8 panels on the day were; U8 Team 1: Jack Reals, Dylan Leetch, Oisin Cronin, Adam Lardner, Cathal Sheehan, Sean Og Maguire, Jack Burke and Daire Fleming. U8 Team 2: Kevin Barry, Tom O'Neill, Shane Hussey, Rory Condon, Luke Morrison, Sean O'Callaghan, Torin O'Brien and Alex Quirke.

With the school holidays upon us and with the Cul Camp kicking off this week, we will take a short break from training for the next 2 weeks, with training resuming on Saturday 11th July.

U10 – Our U10 hurlers took on Ballyduff Upper last Wednesday night – full report to follow.

U11/U12– Our U12 hurlers took on Fermoy in a challenge match in Castlelyons last Monday night on a wet greasy pitch. The match was 14 a side with all 17 Castlelyons lads getting good time on the pitch. It was a good tough match with some fine skills and scoring prowess evident with Castlelyons taking the spoils on the night. Thanks to Fermoy for travelling out. Panel on the day: Leon Shanahan, Luke McCarthy, James Cullnane, Gearoid O’Sullivan, Dara Spillane, Michael O’Sullivan, Cees Kowenburg, Oscar Hallihan, Peter Greaney, Ian Ryan, Michael Griffin, Aaron Fenton, Will Buttimer, Evan Lenehan, Anthony Moran, Colm McCarthy & Ian O’Sullivan.

Upcoming fixtures: Saturday 4th July in Castlelyons: football league v Fr O’Neill’s; Monday 6th July in Castlelyons: hurling league v Cobh.

U13/U14 – Over the past few weeks we have played 2 hurling league matches. On the 18th of June we took on St Catherine’s at home and won well in the end. This was a great boost to the lads especially with such a young panel.

Last Thursday night we travelled down to Tracton with an understrength panel which included 1 U11, 6 U12’s, 4 U13’s & 4 U14’s. On a wet June night our lads, playing with the “wind & hill” we took a lead into half time. Unfortunately it was not enough as Tracton overran us in the 2nd half and ran out easy winners in the end. Credit due to a very young Castlelyons team. Panel for Tracton: Colm McCarthy, Gearoid O’Sullivan, Leon Doocey, Peter Hegarty, Michael O’Sullivan, Jack Kenny, Dara Spillane, Kevin McCarthy, Declan Morrison, Ian O’Sullivan, Richard Morrison, Gavin O’Neill, Peter Greaney, Scott O’Brien & Michael Griffin.

U16 – The U16’s have an upcoming hurling league match this Friday v Sarsfields with venue to be confirmed. Best of luck to the lads in the 1st round of their hurling championship when they take on Killeagh Ita’s in Castlelyons this Sunday the 5th July @ 7pm – please come along and support the team and their management.

U18 – These lads have a number of hurling league matches coming up in the next couple of weeks with fixtures to be ratified at time of going to press. Please support the boys in the 1st round of their hurling championship which is currently scheduled to take place on Monday the 13th July against Crosshaven with a venue to be confirmed.

We hope everyone is having a great week at the Cul Camp with a record number 162 children taking part this year: 83 boys & 79 girls. Well done to the coordinators and the trainers for all their effort and planning which goes into an event like this.
